How do I translate a word?
Simply type an English or Chinese word in the search bar. The app automatically detects the language and translates to the other language instantly.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Translator TravelWorld works completely offline. Both dictionaries (ECDICT and CC-CEDICT) are bundled locally on your device, making it ideal for traveling without data.
How does the auto language detection work?
The app detects Chinese characters (CJK Unicode) in your input. If Chinese characters are found, it switches to Chinese→English mode. Otherwise, it uses English→Chinese mode. The indicator in the top-right shows the current direction.
What information is shown for each word?
For English→Chinese: US phonetic notation (IPA), part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.), Chinese translation (prominently displayed), word forms (plural, past tense, etc.), and English definitions.
What information is shown for Chinese→English?
Simplified and traditional Chinese characters, pinyin pronunciation, and English definitions from the CC-CEDICT dictionary.
How do I clear my search history?
On the main screen, your recent searches appear below the search bar. Swipe left on any word to delete it, or tap "Clear All" to remove all history.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Translator TravelWorld requires no login, no account, and no personal information. Just open and start translating.
A word is missing or has an incorrect translation. What can I do?
The dictionaries are based on ECDICT and CC-CEDICT open-source projects. If you find errors, you can contribute corrections to the upstream projects, or contact us and we will look into it.
